Under The Industrial 4.0, The Comprehensive Rise Of Offshore Wind Power Intelligent Manufacturing (1)
- Feb 11, 2019 -

According to the latest data, wind power generation is second only to hydropower generation, accounting for 16% of global renewable resources generation. At a global level of concern for the development of a low-carbon economy, offshore wind power has the potential to become a renewable energy source that changes the rules of the game.In densely populated coastal areas, Giva-class offshore wind farms can be quickly established, making offshore wind power one of the most important technologies for reducing carbon emissions in energy production through cost-effective means.Although offshore wind power started late, with the stability of sea breeze resources and the characteristics of large power generation, offshore wind power has been developing rapidly in the world in recent years. At a time when onshore wind power has been able to compete with traditional power technology in terms of cost, offshore wind power is also attracting widespread attention,it is highly dependent on technology-driven traits and already has the core power to drive the future of a global low-carbon economy.

In recent years, with the policy overweight, investment recovery and increasingly mature industrial chain supply, offshore wind power has developed rapidly.Under the wave of industry 4.0 based on intelligence, wind power manufacturing has been given a deeper meaning.Wind power is one of the most promising markets for renewable energy in the world, and it is also an important force driving China's energy transformation. In 2017, the global installed capacity of offshore wind power will be 18.8GW, and the installed capacity of offshore wind power will exceed 100GW in the next decade.According to the latest data from Bloomberg New Energy Finance, China’s investment of approximately US$11.4 billion in 2018 is the absolute leading position in the global offshore wind power industry investment ($25.7 billion).

Relying on a huge industrial base, China's offshore wind power manufacturing industry is forming an intelligent manufacturing system that meets international standards.Based on the growing demand for intelligent units and large-scale power plants, intelligent manufacturing has become the only way for China's offshore wind power industry to break through, and it is also an inevitable stage for China's and even the world's wind power development.

Rising offshore wind power intelligent manufacturing

With the development of the development technology and the strength of the industrial chain, China's offshore wind power has grown rapidly. In 2018, China's offshore wind power installed capacity of 1.16 million kilowatts, a total of 3.63 million kilowatts. The rapid growth of the market has stimulated the coastal provinces to speed up the layout of the wind power industry. According to incomplete statistics, by the end of 2018, the total offshore wind power nuclear capacity of China's coastal provinces has reached 50 million kilowatts.

In the Jiangsu, Fujian, Zhejiang, and Guangdong provinces where the sea is competing, a wind power manufacturing 4.0 revolution led by Chinese wind power manufacturers is being staged. The high-quality, precise and sophisticated manufacturing processes rooted in different parts of the production line, as well as the more mature unit R&D system, witness the pace of China's wind power manufacturing industry towards internationalization.

Putian, the seventh coastal city in Fujian Province's 2017 GDP, is known for its offshore wind resources. In 2018, the intelligent manufacturing base of Shanghai Electric High-power Offshore Wind Turbine, which integrates R&D and production, officially emerged here.

“Shanghai Electric Putian Manufacturing Base has a total investment of 1.5 billion yuan and covers an area of 98,000 square meters. The factory is benchmarking the European intelligent manufacturing standards, increasing investment in process level, product technology, manufacturing R&D, and is committed to becoming the most advanced wind power manufacturing base in Asia. ”Chen Hui, general manager of Shanghai Electric Putian Wind Power Equipment Co., Ltd. said.

It is understood that the current Putian base has a 6~7MW series offshore wind turbine production line, and has formed an assembly and testing capacity of 150 sets per year. The factory started production of some production lines in March 2018, and the first 6MW offshore wind turbines were launched in July of the same year;In October, the first 7MW unit was off the assembly line;In December, the D6X offshore low wind speed unit was off the assembly line...Such rapid production capacity and growing power curve make the “Asia's most advanced” title of Putian base deserved.

According to the general manager of Chen Hui, the three offshore wind power products that have been successfully launched have been market-applied – the 6MW unit was successfully installed in the Xinghua Bay experimental wind farm;D6X has received a commercial order; The 7MW unit is expected to be connected to the grid for power generation in the first quarter. For the 8 MW units that are currently popular in the market, Shanghai Electric has also been introduced in early 2018, and  will cooperated with the two bases of Putian and Shantou to complete the installation and commissioning of the prototype in 2019.

It can be said that in just one year, Shanghai Electric Putian Wind Power Manufacturing Base has made the most of the three industries with the largest factory scale, the largest installed power in China and the fastest construction speed in the world.

The standard international manufacturing process, the line of sight revolves to July 2018, known as the "offshore wind power arena" Fujian Xinghua Bay offshore wind power project, 14 sets of fans from different manufacturers are put into operation.Among them, Shanghai Electric 6MW prototype overcomes the test of salt weather, typhoon, high temperature and other bad weather after grid connection. By the end of 2018, the total power generation exceeds 16 million kilowatt hours, and the average available hours exceeds 2600h.

Fujian Province is in China's typhoon-prone zone. On July 11, 2018, the 15th-class super typhoon 'Maria' landed. At the maximum instantaneous wind speed of 34m/s outside the Xinghua Bay Phase I project, Shanghai Electric 6MW Sea Fans rely on superior performance and control strategies for trouble-free shutdown and full coverage.

According to General Manager Chen Hui, the excellent performance of the unit during the typhoon benefited from the high wind traversing technology configuration of the offshore wind turbine.High wind crossing technology is an advanced technology against typhoon. When the wind speed is too large, it can automatically reduce the load of the offshore wind turbine, realize self-protection while ensuring normal power generation and maximizing power generation. It can be said that in the market context of unit homogenization, the design of detail is the root of the difference in fan performance, which is also applicable to the field of wind turbine manufacturing. So, what kind of technological process has made Shanghai Electric's trustworthy quality control system?
